I recently went to a store (brick and mortar) to buy a gift for a loved one. It was a specialty shop and well, yep it was craft related. My intended gift recipient has been doing her craft for a long time, needless to say, I had no idea what to get her, other than of course knowing the perfect shop to go to. A gift certificate would be the perfect solution in this case. She gets to go shopping, which most women like, and pick out her favorite supply (which she doesn’t already own). Excellent idea, right? Wrong, the shop stopped doing gift certificates! I was understandably disappointed, but was lucky that my out of town loved one was in town. So we made it a girls day of shopping. I just picked up the tab. But what if she hadn’t been here?

Scenario one: I get her something, which she may already own. Causing the unavoidable need to return or exchange the item in question. The hiccup there is the shop is a specialty shop, which means she doesn’t have one locally.

Scenario two: I get her something else completely non craft related. That, however, in my opinion would not make her nearly as happy. Spoiling the whole point of giving the gift!

Well both of those options SUCK! And that my friends brings me to the actual meaning of this post. I am now faced with a decision for our wonderful customers… Do we offer Gift Certificates or not?

So I ask, you, our customers and friends, what do you all think? Would you use them? Love them? Or do you hate them? Please help us decide whether or not to offer Gift Certificates in our shop!
