Rain has been a constant for us here in North Carolina…flood warnings, muddy kids, dashes to the car…it has been a miserable gloomy existence!  So with those blues we’ve decided to play with one of our very own Fancy Fiber Packs.  Have you seen them??  They are chock full of luscious fiber and well just in case you aren’t sure what to do with them, we are here to help!  This pack has some Angora, Wensleydale locks, and some lovely faux cashmere.

And of course I have to share a bit of cuteness along with the soon to be shared eye candy… seriously could either one be more adorable?  Just look at the locks on that Wensleydale Sheep, my little girl would be so jealous LOL.  But really doesn’t your heart just melt when you see a bunny?  Our boy Sir Molts here has the sweetest personality, if you are curious you can see him live on our Instagram feed 🙂

Both the silky smooth and twisty turvy textures of these fibers captured the vibrance of the dyes beautifully and we simply had to spin some of the fiber up.  Deborah did both a simple single using some of the cashmere and some suffolk wool we had on hand.  And while we want to show you that you can use plain fibers, she couldn’t help but spin a chunky tailspun yarn as well.  We have a tendency to have very short attention spans, so at this point we shifted gears and began weaving.

Now came the fun part, playing with our new tool!  After warping the darn thing backwards and rewarping it she settled down to play, FINALLY.  Since we wanted our yarns and fiber to take center stage, we chose a simple black cotton warp (for you non-weavers this is the vertical yarn in our weaving structure).  And after the first few rows of a plain weave the creativity took over.  She started throwing in locks, poofs, and before she knew it she had woven up an good foot worth of fabric!

We were simply stunned at how quickly and easily it was to weave up this stunning scarf.  This exercise was the perfect fix for our need for instant gratification… admit it, you have the need too, you simply want NO NEED to finish a project!  This was a quick, highly creative burst of crafting mojo that helped brighten our day.  We hope you this helps inspire you to create a masterpiece with a Fancy Fiber Pack
